Camping in essence is truly an escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. A time when doing nothing at all but watching nature and cooking on an open fire are the highlights of your day. This can be extremely relaxing and seren to most but it’s very easy to get bored just sitting and doing nothing in the woods for a weekend or longer. Some of my favorite camping trips are ones spent with a big group of friends all camping together instead of camping alone.
Below I will be sharing a few personal tent camping ideas that I implement on my camping adventures to make camping more of a vacation and less monotonous. Not that there is anything wrong with a relaxing weekend alone trust me, that can always be the right medicine, but for the sake of this post I’ll be sharing some ideas to spice it up a bit. To make your camping adventure one to remember.
Invite Your Friends
The old rule of thumb of the more the merrier applies to camping in a big way. Some of my all time favorite camping trips have included groups of 10 or even 20 friends and family members. This makes camping life not only more fun by hanging out playing games and conversation with friends and family but also safer as well. The more people you have the less likely wild animals will be to snoop around your campsite looking for food. But even if they do you have more people there is to scare them off.
It can also make life allot easier by having big groups of friends camping with you. The more people you have with you the more likely they will have something you may have forgotten to pack or that maybe you don’t have enough of.
Camping activities are in more abundance for groups than alone as well. If your like me than camping isn’t just for the relaxation. It’s for the sport and adventure of staying in the woods. For me playing Frisbee, football, or hackey sack while camping is just the right amount of exercise for my day. These activities however are hard to accomplish without a group of friends to play with.
This is a topic I will be spending more time on in future posts but it’s something that I strongly believe raises spirits and overall feel of comfort in your campsite. Just having a couple campsite decorations no matter how simple can have tremendous effects on not only your spirits but to everyone else passing by.
From hanging tapestries to tiki torches to a hand collected stick fence there is’s no end of creativity available for you to create your very own wilderness retreat. If you have room with your gear to pack decorations from home that is great, and if not that’s OK to. You can make amazing things out whatever you have available at your site. Get creative!
Name Your Campsite
This goes right along with camp decorations. Of all the tent camping ideas I could think of, this is probably the easiest idea for any campsite. The name of your campsite can be absolutely anything you can dream up. An inside joke, favorite destination, or the name if your first cat. As long as it means something to you than it’s perfect no matter what.
You can get creative and make a big sign from painting a white sheet with graphics and whatever else or choose to go the easiest route and just make a simple sign from cardboard. You can also get creative and make a sign your own creative way. The idea is to hang your sign up in your campsite to let everyone know where they are when they enter your site. This makes for lasting memories and photo ops and leaves the other campers wishing they were hanging out with you.
For myself it’s not a camping trip unless I have my acoustic guitar with me to strum some chords by the fire. A lot of my friends bring there is hand drums or harmonicas or whatever else they could play by a fire. For musicians such as myself there is’s no better feeling than having a jam session in the woods away from reality. For most people however this really isn’t an option whether you aren’t musically inclined or just don’t own the equipment to take. This is perfectly fine because you can still have the music with you even if you don’t play yourself.
Bluetooth speakers are a god send when camping in the woods. They are easy to use, most of the time lightweight, and create the perfect ambiance for your camping vacation. Simply connect your phone and play all your favorite music wirelessly. Especially if your camping with a group of friends this can lead to even more activities and excitement for your campsite from dancing to music trivia and anything in between.
Your Campsite Is Complete
I want you to have the most fun you can possibly have camping because that means more people and friends enjoying the outdoors like myself. Hopefully these tent camping ideas give you a general idea of some things you can do or implement in your camping adventure to make your camping more exciting. All to often I hear from people that camping is to boring and that there is’s nothing to do and that’s just a simplistic mindset. There’s always things to do and when there is’s not your Creativity need be your only tool.
These are so very many tent camping ideas you can come up with to spice things up. My purpose is only to open your mind to the idea that it CAN be an adventure! I wish you the very best on your adventures. Feel free to leave your own ideas below and share some of your campsite names and how you’ve decorated your campsites to make them your own.
